The overhaul of the irrigation systems of Amasia and Sarapat enlarged communities has been completed. The projects were implemented through the Territorial Development Fund of Armenia (RTDF), with the co-financing of the Government of Armenia, the World Bank (World Bank Armenia) and the communities.
In particular, more than 7 km of water line was laid in the enlarged community of Amasia, thanks to which the arable land of 7 irrigated settlements will increase by 1600 ha. It is expected that the harvest from grain crops will increase by 29 thousand cents, and that of potatoes by 35 thousand cents. The net annual income of the residents from the harvested crops and cattle will be about 661 million drams.
Three communities will benefit from the nearly 7 km water line laid in Sarapat. The irrigated arable land will increase by about 299 hectares. The yield of grain crops will increase by 11 thousand 580 cents, and that of potatoes by 3 thousand 88 cents. The net annual income of the community residents will be more than 227 million drams.
In general, the investment made through the Armenian Territorial Development Fund for the overhaul of irrigation systems in ten settlements of two communities with the co-financing of the RA government, the World Bank and the communities, amounted to about 289 million drams in Amasia, and more than 184 million drams in Sarapat.
